25 Cent Lesson

This week our family went to a local amusement park, Indiana Beach. We had a good time inspite of the rain. Abeba really didn't care for the whole deal. She was tired from the camping weekend and just didn't like the crowd. I find myself getting frustrated with this at times, but Justin reminds me that this will take time. We have come leaps and bounds since January, but this might take years to conquer.

Anyway, the 25 cent lesson...later in the evening after we all had collapsed from the busy weekend, our 5 year old brought a quarter to us. He said, "Here, I got this out of wishing well at Indiana Beach." A lesson on taking what is not yours followed. Justin explained how God does not want us to steal. Israel was very sorry for what he did, but the lesson here was not finished. Justin and I decided that the quarter needed to go back. We wanted him to realize that Indiana Beach was the owner of that quarter and in fact he had stolen the quarter. So, yesterday we drove back to the park and had him apologize for what he had done. Some have said to me, "It is just a quarter!" Yes I said but it is the principle of it. Hopefully, he now knows not to take what is not his.

I am thankful that God gives us teaching opportunities like this to teach our children his Word.

Awesome, it is great to hear there are parents out there that really care about teaching our kids good values, no matter how small. Sometimes the biggest lessons are in the small stuff. I am so thankful for God's forgiveness.
