Drought, Famine and Hope

We felt like we needed to let everyone know the current situation in Ethiopia. There is an ongoing drought that has affected the crops the past year and looks to affect the harvest this year as well. There is an article on the CNN site today that discusses it, I ask that you all take a look at the article found here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/05/21/ethiopia.hunger.ap/index.html
We know that the times are severe there and that the country is in a humanitarian crisis, but we also know that God is good and this to is according to his good will and is not outside of his providence. Our hearts are indeed heavy tonight as we think about our daughter that is somewhere in Ethiopia and what she might be going through. We know that no matter how bleak things may seem that God is in control and we will not be separated from his love. " Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness or danger, or sword?" Romans 8:35
I
t is difficult to fully express our feelings about all this right now. We see so many things happening around the world that have an impact on Ethiopia. Rising food prices, fuel (ethanol and petroleum) and so many other things that we didn't think about before we began this adoption journey. This journey for our daughter has caused us to think more globally and for that I am thankful. I implore you all to become educated about the world around you...
What can you do? What can we do? When my wife was discussing Ethiopia situation with our children today our oldest son (9) replied "pray". So pray.
