Summer Play

The kids always look forward to this time of the year.  Our local library (which just happens to be the best in the midwest, if you ask me!!) puts on a summer theater production as part of their reading program.  Last year's play was Charlotte's Web and this year's production will be Peter Pan.  The kids just love this story, perhaps because it fits our "Darling Family"!

The kids got their part assignments last week and are excited about their make believe personalities.  Hannah gets the part of Nana (the dog), Eli is going to be a lost boy (one of the twins) and Israel is the youngest of the lost boys.  Abeba gets the important part of being the audience (she was wanting a part, so we told her she would be that part, and she was thrilled!!).

The summer rush has now begun.  The van does not sit idle for very long and there is not a whole lot of down time.  In between rehersals 4-H projects must get done, flower beds and the garden need weeded and produce must make it to a jar or the freezer.  These are busy times, but ones that create a long list of memories for the family, and I am quite alright with that!
