Thanksgiving Essays

For school today I decided to have the kids write an essay about what they are thankful for. I was pleased with their writings and thought I would share them with you.

Hannah's:

Thanksgiving

There are many thing to be thankful for in my life. I have gone through many time that I have been very thankful. The first and most important thing that I am thankful for is Jesus dying on the cross for a sinner like me. He paid my debts on calvary. I am also thankful for the freedom in our country to go to church and be able to own God's Word.

My family is next in line. god has blessed me with wonderful Christian parents who teach me and my siblings God's Word. I am thankful for Eli, Israel, and Abeba. My church family is also something I am very thankful for. I am also blessed with wonderful Christian friends. Aunt, uncles, cousins, grandmas and grandpas are one my list too.

God has given my dad a good job that gives us plenty of money to pay for our house, food, clothes, and a car. I also can't forget the animals we have. Yes, even the chickens. Without chickens we wouldn't get the eggs we get and without the cats and dogs who knows what kind of rodents we could have!

Here are a few verses from the Bible about Thanksgiving:

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" I Thes. 5:16-18

"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!" Psalm 118:1

This Thanksgiving make sure you praise and thank God for all he has given you even in times of trouble.

Elijah's:

Things I am Thankful for

I am thankful for God's blessings because without God's blessings I wouldn't have my house, my family, and I wouldn't have Abeba.

Another thing I am thankful for is my parents. I am so blessed to have parents like them. They discipline us when we need it. They are very loving and they are very caring and many other things too.

There are many other things I am thankful for, but those are the things I am most thankful for. Thanksgiving is not about eating as much dressing you can. It is about being thankful to God. I hope you will remember that this Thanksgiving.

These words brought joy to my heart. I pray that we ponder on them on this Thanksgiving Day.
