A Bountiful Harvest

We have been blessed by a wonderful, bountiful fruit harvest so far this year. We have had a record crop of cherries and strawberries at our house. Last year we had zero fruit harvest because of a late freeze that froze all the tree buds. We are so thankful for God's provision in this way. We are thankful for our home and the land that he has given us to be able to grow so much food for our family, especially with the quickly rising cost of food. We are hoping for more fruit to be ready soon, along with the vegetables that the garden is producing.
We are constantly reminded of the contrast of the record harvest and the right amount of rain and wonderful weather that we have received against the drought, famine and great need of the people of Ethiopia. Our thoughts and prayers are habitually with the people of Ethiopia, especially our daughter that is somewhere, there in Ethiopia....waiting....We know that God is sovereign over even this and we are trusting in his care and provision for her. We have passed two Months of waiting for referral now, but it seems that the 3-5 month estimate for referral may be a bit longer than that now.

Our teff plot continues to grow. Here are some of our critters enjoying the teff...hope they don't slip and fall on the tefflawn....That's one of our cats, Gloria in the middle, being harassed by one of our German Shepherds, Q, yes Q , like in James Bond.


We look forward to seeing how the teff turns out. We are hopeful that we can get it to produce grain, if we do we plan to use it to plant a bigger spot next year. Maybe in a couple of years we will be able to get enough to make our own teff flour.
