Sweet 13...

"Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.  Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.  Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them."  Psalm 127:3,4

Today is our oldest daughter, Hannah's, 13th birthday.  It just seems like yesterday that we were in the hospital experiencing labor pains for the first time.  We were so young then, and had so much to learn as parents.  We knew that we were about to enter a new phase of our lives...one that would forever change our lives.  We certainly went in not knowing a whole lot about parenting, but we certainly were willing to learn and were looking forward to it.  The Lord brought into our arms, Hannah Elaine, on January 4th, 1997 at about 2am.  She was beautiful, perfect and a gift from God.

Parenting is not an easy road as all parents would say.  It is one that is worth all the work though.  God has taught us a lot the past 13 years: patience, joy, selflessness, love, how to show love and so much more.  For this we are so thankful.  Being a parent is such a blessing.  Children are truely a gift from God.  Hannah is one of our gifts.

Hannh, you are such a blessing to our family.  You are willing to do hard things, to stand up for what you believe in, and you work with diligence to accomplish your tasks.  You have such a sweet personality.  You love those who need love.  God has given you a special heart for those that are hurting and you long to help them.  Your desire is to serve your God, no matter the cost.  I thank God for you my sweet daughter..I love you! Happy 13th birthday, Hannah!

Hannah opening her gift...I decided to make 13 special for her.  Justin and I decided to give her the first diamond ring he gave me.  It is a heart shape with a small diamond in the center.
