Ethiopian Pen Pals

We received a package last week from a very special place, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We have met the Baer family since our trip to Addis Ababa and have kept up with their family. They recently moved from the US. to Ethiopia as missionaries to the Ethiopian people. They have 4 children as well and Mrs. Baer thought it might be fun to have some U.S. pen pals for their children and so we decided we would help them out in that endeavor :)

The Baers sent a lovely letter written by the children as well as a beautiful Ethiopian scarf. It is gorgeous! Here is a picture with it wrapped around our 4 children.

We met part of the Baer family when we were in Ethiopia picking up Abeba. Their oldest daughter was there spending some time in the orphanages and Mr. Baer just happened to be there visiting while we were there. It was a joy to meet them. They are a special family.

I have enjoyed reading Mrs. Baer's Facebook postings about their experiences in Ethiopia. Living in Ethiopia is definitely different than the lives we live here in the U.S. She tells of the simpler life style. She tells of the struggles of the Ethiopian people and how they as a family are striving to help. The stories are precious yet heartbreaking. So many need help.

I am thankful to God for the Baer family and for their work in this great country. Please join me in praying for them and for their ministry there.

Sounds like a wonderful relationship with this family. Keep up the pen-pal'ing, as God could use it in many ways - for ALL of you! The scarf is lovely, by the way. And so are your children! ;-)
